Keeping on the Move – By Laurence Torr

Keeping on the move

Read Acts 8:1-8 what can we learn from this great record.

(I Recommend You read Acts Chapter 7 first to get the full Picture.)

Acts 8:1 And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.

And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.

As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.

Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.

Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.

And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.

For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.

And there was great joy in that city.

At the time of the death of the wonderful believer Stephen, there was a great persecution against the church at Jerusalem, which scattered the believers.

The god of this world (satan) was working through the religious people of that day by promoting fear and division to the point the believers were scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria. Saul was making havock of the church through the death of Stephen and going after the believers and putting them in prison.

But the response of the believers was amazing they was not moved by fear of what was happening, they did not give up on God and live in defeat or hide behind closed doors, these wonderful believer that were scattered, shocked the devil by responding in faith, by preaching the word, their form of defence was offence, they kept moving,they did not give up in defeat,

Philip the evangelist went to the city of Samaria, and preach Christ unto them and the results of this was powerful through Philips preaching, and one of the reason for the results, was that the people was hearing Philip preach.

They listen to what he was saying because of the miracles he was doing, devil spirits were cast out and people were getting healed. signs miracles and wonders followed Philip because he believed and the people hearing Philip believed. Philip was walking by and being led by the spirit of God. the results of this was, there was great joy in that city.

When persecution comes your way and it comes in many forms what is your response you can determine how you will act. There are two ways we can react one is fear the other is faith. we decide.

It is very easy to get caught up with the fear factor of the times we are living in, but those that know their God (through relationship) shall absolutely be strong and do exploits, getting the right perspective of the time we are living in is very important, satan has adapted his methods from the times of the early church to the times we are living in now, we need to identify how he is moving today.

God by way of Paul exhorts us not to be ignorant of satan devices so we can stand against the wiles of methods of the devil, he is the cause of the problem you can not fight a spiritual battle with five sense means.
Read Ephesians 6:10-20

we decide to be strong in the Lord and take our stand to be bold as lion.
We have a mighty God who moves through you as you believe Him, He has his protection around you, and the best defence is offence, preach the word be instant in season out of season, we are ready to move can do believers.

God is with us and Christ is in us, so who can be against us, the world promotes fear, religion promotes fear, world leaders promote fear, but we promote and preach Jesus Christ and the love of God and grace of God to all mankind. The goodness of God leads people to turn around and move in the right direction through the preaching of the gospel and demonstrating the power of God through mighty sign and wonders which accompany us as we believe .

The best defence is offence, preach the word be instant in season out of season, we are ready to move can do believers. Time to live in the spirit and walk by the spirit and be led by the spirit of living God dwelling in you. Time to rise up make your stand, let people see and know what your truly about, no time to be a secret service Christian.

Have a great day

My Thoughts for Today – Leaders/Overseers – By Laurence Torr

My Thoughts for today on – Leaders (overseer)

You can download this Teaching in Word & Pdf at the end of the article.

laur tour

Leaders can get people to do what they want them to do, but if the person your leading has not changed in their hearts, the leader has not led them spiritually in the direction God wants then to go. Leaders walking by the spirit of God will lead people to go to God and to grow with Him.

There is really no distinction between Leaders and believers in the truth that we are all born again, we all have access to God we are all saved by Grace, we can all be led and walk by the spirit of God. But the Scripture teach that there is a distinction between leaders and Followers in the body of Christ.

God is a God of order and has set the members in the body of Christ

Romans 12:4-8For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:

So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.

Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;

Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;

Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.

1Corinthians 12:27 27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

Leaders are called elders

Acts 20:17 And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church.

Elders show maturity of faith in other records leaders are referred to as overseers

Acts 20:28   28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

also Leaders are referred to as  Bishops

1 Timothy 3:1-2 This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.

A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

Bishop is the Greek word episkopos Strong’s G1985 says a superintendent a Christian officer in general Charge of the church

Titus 1:5,7  This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.

A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

and Acts 20:17,28  This is an office of a Pastor and

Ephesians 4:11 11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

1 Peter 5:1-2 The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:

Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;

Christ being the Chief Shepherd.

Here are other records that refer to Leaders in the body of Christ

1 Thessalonians 5:12, 12 And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;

1 Timothy 5:17, 17 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.

Hebrews 13:7,17,24,  Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.

17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

24 Salute all them that have the rule over you, and all the saints. They of Italy salute you.

Acts 15:22  22 Then pleased it the apostles and elders with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas and Silas, chief men among the brethren:

Leaders should Lead and Leadership  is primary influence. The way leaders influence others is by the godly example and teaching of God’s word. we are to lead by example, a leader should be apt to teach to exhort in sound doctrine and leader are to have godly qualities.

It is also interesting to  see that the words Leader and Leader’s and Leadership are not in the church epistles. In the Gospel’s the word Leaders is used once, in Matthew 15:14 where Jesus mentions the blind leaders of the blind.

Matthew 15:14 14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

Even though the words Leader and Leader’s and Leadership are not in the Church Epistle, In today’s terminology these words are used a lot among believers all over the world. To the unbeliever or new person who first comes among our fellowship’s these words Leader and Leader’s, and Leadership would fully communicate to them. So we can use these words for their understanding.

well just some of my thoughts I was inspired to share with you have a great day xx

Confidence To Speak God’s Word with Boldness – By Laurence Torr

Confidence To Speak God’s Word with Boldness.

As  born again Sons and Daughters of the most high God  we have the ability to Speak with a Godly Confidence and Boldness the things God shows us to speak forth. When we are living and walking as the believers, God has called us to be, we will be bold to hold forth Gods Words, no matter the circumstances, no matter the situation. God wants His Children to be Bold, to declare His words of life, to bring people back from the power of satan to the power of God, by boldly and confidently, holding forth the words of life.
