Peace Be Still – By Laurence Torr
Jesus at different times encouraged people to be of good cheer, that is because “Be of good Cheer” is really about having inward peace while overcoming outward pressure it means to take courage or be full of inner confidence despite the challenge. When Jesus spoke Peace he was commanding the chaos from continuing to rage and when he spoke be still he was basically saying “stop striving” or hush, requiring the turmoil to submit to his authority. In life we can have troubles and pressures but when we understand our authority and know how we get attacked we can be on guard and alert and know what to do, rather then being all shook up and confused and worried and drawing back in fear we can move forward in great faith despite the trouble within and the troubles without.

This message was such a timely reminder. True peace is not the absence of storms, but the presence and authority of Christ in the middle of them. “Peace, be still” speaks not only to outward chaos, but also to the fears within us. Thank you for this encouraging and faith-building teaching. 🙏
