Written Article – Abounding In hope – By Laurence Torr
Romans 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope,) through the power of the Holy Ghost.
We all need hope, whether things are bad in your life or good. Hope is having confidant expectation that God, will do for you what you cannot do for yourself.
Hope is trusting that God will make good on His promises. Hope gives you the motivation to keep moving towards your goals and your God given goals in life even in the midst of adversity.
Our God is the God hope, He will give you His desires and dreams so you can have hope and abound in this life with all joy and peace because you believe Him, and trust and have a confidence expectation in Him and the promises of God to You.
When we put our expectations on God we can go from strength to strength we can overcome the challenges and disappointments that come up in life. God wants you to totally depend upon Him and to trust Him.
Proverbs 13:12 Hope deferred (delayed) maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.
If your hope is delayed it can quickly cause you to become discouraged and discouragement never comes from God. You may have prayed for something, and the answer has not come yet, it does not mean that God has denied your request But when God answers it is a tree of life it is a great blessing for you.
If you have lost hope, you need to go to the God of hope which is to expect Him to turn your situation around as you do this your faith will rise and strength will rise up in you, so you can keep moving with faith.
Psalms 146:5 – 10 5 Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope (expectation) is in the LORD his God:
6 Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever:
7 Which executeth judgment for the oppressed: which giveth food to the hungry. The LORD looseth the prisoners:
8 The LORD openeth the eyes of the blind: the LORD raiseth them that are bowed down: the LORD loveth the righteous:
9 The LORD preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.
10 The LORD shall reign forever, even thy God, O Zion, unto all generations. Praise ye the LORD.
If you are a child of God you have God as your helper. God created the heavens and earths the sea and all that is in the sea. God keeps His truth forever.
When God says something it will stand. God gave us his promises and they stand and when we stand on His promises we will see deliverance, direction, and answers and solutions.
God is not slack concerning His promises
2 Peter 3:9a The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness;
1Corinthians 1:20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him(Christ) Amen (yes), unto the glory of God by us.
If you are oppressed, God will execute His judgement on your behalf, if you have no food He will Provide your food, whatever type of prison you’re in weather that is bars of steal, or mental prison, or a financial prison, or a relationship prison, God can set you free. But You need to go to Him and expect from Him.
When problems come up many people will try and solve the problem themselves for example go to the doctor if they are sick, or the bank manager if it is finance, or a psychiatrists if it is depression or mental pressure.
There is nothing wrong with those professions mentioned, I thank God for them, but God wants you to go to Him first as He is the source of all your supply and God has already provided everything we need through Jesus Christ.
God opens the eyes of the blind both physically and spiritually, if your bowed down under the pressures of life or by people He will raise you up, God is righteous God, and will up hold you with the right hand of His righteousness.
Isaiah 41:10 NLT 10 Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.
God says
1. Don’t be afraid (why?) because – He is with YOU.
2. Don’t Be discouraged, (why?) He is YOUR GOD
3. He will (absolutely) strengthen You
4. He will (absolutely) Help You
5. He will (absolutely) Hold you Up with His Victorious hand.
God is the source of hope and this hope is guaranteed because it rests on the promises of God. When we are truly walking by faith we will have all joy and peace in believing, We know that the things we hope for are ours.
Our joy and peace should not be dependent on the circumstances that may surrounds us good or bad. God is the one that fills us so we are liberally supplied with His joy and peace so we can super abound in hope (expectation) whether there are problems or not.
It is available to be overflowing with His peace and joy and we have His peace and joy manifested when we are walking by faith and the spirit of God. When we walk by sight which means by what we see around us then His peace and joy is stolen from us.
Let Us read this verse again
Romans 15:13 13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope,) through the power of the Holy Ghost.
Notice it says through the power of the Holy Ghost. This shows us we are not to walk in our strength but His. The power here is the Greek word dunamis which it is Gods ability in us. which mean we do things as Gods works in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure. (Philippians 2:13)
God has provided for us with everything we need. When we have done all that we know God, would have us to do and we can do no more than we are simply to trust God, by claiming His promise to us, and waiting with expectancy for the answer to come, and the answer will come.
God has made away for us, God shall supply the necessary things we need, not only to live but also to carry out the work of the ministry which is reconciling man and woman back to God, through the preaching and teaching of the gospel.
Romans 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
The Just shall live by faith, by believing God and His word. When we are truly living by faith and walking by the spirit of God we will not struggle like an unbeliever would struggle, because our expectation is on God to perform and provide the things we cannot.
While you are waiting for the answers and provision to manifest it self from God, keep moving, keep saying what God’s says about your situation the Psalmist said it like this
Psalms 71:14 But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more.
Psalms 119:114 Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.
Jeremiah says it like this
Jeremiah 17:7 -8 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.
8 For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
In the waiting seasons we are to trust God and have a confident expectation that God will answer and deliver. It is in those waiting time praising Him, and claiming His promise that we are like that tree that is planted by the waters, getting our nourishment from God and it is in those time we grow, God is pruning and shaping you in your heart and faith and confession. and through the good times and bad times or trying time we continue to grow.
Here is another beautiful record filled with mercy and compassion and God’s great love.
Lamentations 3:21-26 This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.
22 It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
24 The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
25 The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.
26 It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.
What a great record when we recall mind, God loving kindness and goodness then we have hope, when things seem lost for you or you have had a big disappointment come up, recall to your mind how God has delivered you, and helped you in the past, remember Gods grace and love and compassion He has had in and on your life. Remember God is always faithful when you have gone to Him and trusted Him, and Believed Him, He has never let you down and He has never left you nor has He forsaken You.
When you make God your portion and that God is the lot and first in your life, then you will always have hope.
When you keep doing the right thing before God even when you have not had your answer or deliverance, even when people do you wrong, then you will see the goodness of God, keep seeking Him and you will find Him. and God says it is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the deliverance the help the victory, don’t go telling everyone your problems, but place your problems in God’s hands, keep moving, keep believing, keep saying what God says, and most important do not try to work the solution out in your own ability or strength we need to rest in Him that is where we spend our effort to rest in Him, to enter and remain in His rest.
Hebrews 4:9-11
9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
God wants you to rest in His rest, we begin to enter into Gods rest when we cease from our own works, how we think things should be done. When we have done all in situation what we know God wants us to do, and we do not know what else to do. That is when we rest in Him.
To Enter into God rest is to fully trust in God and His Promises to Us. When we as believers are living in our own strength trying to find our own way we can very easily end up complaining that things are not going our way, some even get discouraged to thinking to go back to living their old life they use to live, and even hurt themselves and others in their process by their actions and words this is certainly not entering into His rest.
2 Corinthians 6:1 We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.
We have a part to play and God has His part to play. We are fellow labourer together with God. When we try to do God part then we become frustrated and lose our peace.
God is working with Us as we are with Him. We do the things that God is showing and leading us to do by His grace His wonderful favour, and the part we cannot do we leave to God, trusting Him to do it.
Lets go into this New month of August 2021 with our expectations on God
