The carnal vs The spiritual Mind
God wants our words to be good words and our thoughts to be good thoughts. Our words and thoughts are to be that which is good and acceptable perfect in His sight.
We are to control our thinking; we are the ones that can decide what we will think about and meditate on, our most dominate thoughts, the thoughts what we meditate and think about the most will become the words we speak.
Proverbs 23:7a – For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he:
2 Corinthians 10:4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds;)
2 Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations (thoughts, reasonings that arise in your heart), and every high thing that exalteth (like a barrier) itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.
There is great benefit to us when our thoughts and speech is in line with Gods words. When we are thinking and speaking those wonderful words from God, then we are in agreement with Him. This is called being spiritually minded, there Is great benefit to us when we are spiritually minded, and every day we decide whether we are going to carnally minded or spiritually-minded.
Romans 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
When we are carnally minded our minds and thoughts and our focus are on our needs and lack and on the problems we may be facing, the fears that is being promoted on your local and world news channels, or the negatives coming through your friends or workmates, to be carnally minded is to be focused on what is happening today in your life and the affair of this world what is happening right now. To be carnally minded is a wide spectrum of things in this life, but the focus will not be God. The carnal mind brings us into a state of doubts worries and fears and comparing ourselves with others, being judgmental, being critical of others and being moved by our emotions and many more things I could list. but my main focus is what is being spiritually-minded
Now let’s focus on being spiritually-minded.
When we spiritually minded, we will have life in all its fulness and peace, the peace we have is that peace which passes all understanding which keeps our hearts mind in the right state. a Mindset of wellness, wholeness and completeness.
Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
When we are spiritually minded, we are focus on the truths of who we are as sons of God, we think from a heavenly Godly perspective and not from a worldly perspective. We are not focused on the worry, fears and doubts, and uncertainty that we see and hear in this world. We know God is with us and for us and working in our corner no matter what is going on, we know God has a plan and purpose for our life and we know God has supplied every need for our lives, we have direction from God, we know God is constantly working in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure, we know we will lack nothing when we trust Him with all our hearts and we know that what God has begun in our lives as we stay with Him, God will finish what he began.
We know God will never leave us nor forsake us, we know He will cause us to be victorious and triumphant over everything that comes against us in this life as we trust and rely on Him. We know God has ordered our steps and made our feet like hinds’ feet and sets us upon our high places, we know God is with us and is presently active in our lives and is working all things together for our good, we know that God is our sun and shield that he gives us favour and glory for those that walk uprightly, those that walk-up righty are those that listen to God and practices His ways and those that do those things which are pleasing in His sight.
Those people that have a relationship with God will not only know Gods acts, but they will also know His ways, and How God does the things and how God works on our behalf. God has provided everything for us to live and move and have our being in Him. A spiritually-minded person knows that God is their heavenly Father and is for them, they know that God is also sending his son the Lord Jesus Christ to gather the church in the air. The spiritually-minded are not afraid of what is happening in the world,and those that are spiritually-minded are bold to speak the truth in love, and to speak for God, even If no one believes what they are saying. (Remember Noah – Hebrews 11:7 and 2 Peter 2:5)
Those that are spiritually-minded are active and do not procrastinate in worries fears and doubts and unbelief those that are spiritually-minded puts God first in every area for their lives and desires to see all men and saved and come unto a knowledge of the truth, the spiritually minded person is humble and meek in heart, and of a ready mind and prays for the labourers, the spiritually minded person puts God first above all, they love God with all their heart, soul mind and strength God is first for them, and the spiritually-minded person helps others by speaking forth the words of life that God energizes in them to speak forth. The spiritually-minded person preaches the gospel of Christ which is the power of God unto salvation, The spiritually-minded person trusts God with there lives and they practise what God is encouraging and the spiritually-minded person is productive and edifies those around them, they inspire faith in the humble people that are desiring to know, the spiritually minded person give sound doctrine and reproof and correction and instruction in righteousness that the man of God may be perfect thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
A spiritually-minded person knows that they are an heir of God and joint-heir with Christ, they live in spirit, they walk in the spirit and they are led by the spirit and they speak by the spirit of God, the spiritually minded person endeavours to walk like there Lord and Saviour walked, to follow the master’s example, healing the sick, cleansing the lepers and raise the dead and open the eyes of the physically and spiritually blind people. A spiritually-minded person will watch the words of his mouth and the meditation of his/hers heart that it is acceptable in God sights who knows what is in all of our hearts minds, a spiritually-minded person does not think evil of others or speak evil of others, a spiritually-minded person does not cause division but is reconciling men and women back to God in the church and outside of the church. a spiritually-minded person speaks in tongues and prays for others and has a great desire to see all men saved and come unto a knowledge of the truth and for Gods word to move everywhere all over the world. a spiritual-minded person knows that God is the source of all there supply, they honour Him with their substance and the first fruits of all their increase. A spiritual-minded person speaks the words that God puts into their mouth to speak and is no respecter of persons.
Psalms 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
What we set our hearts on, we will think about the most. Your heart is the innermost part of your being, this is where fear or faith comes from, what is in your heart will come out of your mouth and determines the actions you take in life.
God has given us all things that pertain unto life and godliness God has spoken goods words over and into your life, let’s speak those same words out of our mouth, and let Gods words be the meditation of your heart,
Colossians 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
Colossians 3:2 Set your affection (phroneō = to exercise the mind) on things above, not on things on the earth.
Let’s set our affections, which mean exercise our minds on things about not the things on these earth. What you see with your eyes in this world is temporal it is not going last, the things we can not see are eternal and will not fade away. We have a focus and direction from God.
2 Corinthians 4:18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
Thoughts, what did Jesus Say
Matthew 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures (thoughts) upon the earth, where moth(worries) and rust (fear) doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
Matthew 6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures (thoughts) in heaven, where neither moth (worries) nor rust (fears) doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure (Thoughts are) is, there will your heart be also.
When our thoughts are set on this world and its problems the worries and fears steal our peace and joy and strength in God, when we are spiritually minded nothing can break through to steal your peace or strength, those that know there God shall be strong, they are not moved by the force and pressure of this world.
1John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him (in his heart or mind).
1John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father but is of the world.
1John 2:17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever.
1John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.
1John 4:5 They are of the world: therefore, speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.
1John 4:6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
1John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
1John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
1John 5:5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
If we love God we will keep His commandments, we are to love Him will all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and our neighbour as ourselves. What God give us to do is easy and not grievous. If you have confessed Jesus as your Lord and Believed in your heart, that God has raised Him for the dead, then you are born again filled with His spirit you are a child of the living God, the God who created the heavens and earth and you have overcome this world and this is the victory that overcomes the world which Is our faith, we know faith comes by hearing and hearing the words from God (Romans 10:17)
We have already overcome this world, we are more than super conquerors, this world will pass away there will be a new heaven and new earth wherein there dwells righteousness, in the meantime we have been given everything to live above this world to shine out even in the darkest of time, being spiritually minded we are not moved by the force or pressure of this world, we are not moved by fear but we are moved by faith and the spirit of God that dwells in us, we put all our trust in God, we use our spiritual ability, we speak in tongues much, we speak by the spirit of God, we allow God to direct us and lead us by His spirit and we speak those words of light and life coming from the Father of lights to bring hope and faith and the love of God to those who are lost in this world which is wilderness, they have no direction or hope and are loss without God, but we have the map of life and our heavenly Father has made a way in the wilderness and has caused the rivers to run in the desert. God has given us a new life through His son Jesus Christ, and by Him, we rule and reign in this life, we bring God’s solutions to others, we run our race with endurance and hope, we press towards the mark keeping our eyes on the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
We were born to live and we are now born again to live unto God and serve Him, not our flesh, our life is not our own, God would have us to wake up to what we have been called to do now and how God would have live and move, so we get the full benefits now and throughout eternity and God gets all the glory.
2 John 1:8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.
Philippians 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
Philippians 2:14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
Philippians 2:15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
Philippians 2:16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.
