Thoughts for Today Righteousness – By Laurence Torr

Luke 24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued(clothed) with power from on high.

When we confessed Jesus Christ as Lord, we received the spirit of God, we were clothed with power from on high, and our new garment is the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus,

Before almighty God we are righteous we are right and Just we are His sons and daughters, we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus Our new garments has replaced for our old garment which were filthy rags, God now see you as He see Jesus. We guiltless, faultless and innocent and holy

Our own righteousness filthy rags

Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness’s are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away

God’s righteousness is always more in quantity and quality than ours will ever be.

See our actions or work to does not make us righteous we are not made righteous by what we do. Righteousness is a gift by believing on the lord Jesus Christ and what he done on the cross this produces a change within a man. Our actions cannot change our hearts

If you think that doing right makes you right before God is the same error that Pharisee made it not that we clean up our actions that our heart will become clean. Our Actions are an indication of what is in our hearts Actions are the fruit the heart produces.

Religion focuses on changing what people’s actions are, instead of changing their hearts by preaching the good news to them.

Laws only affect actions but the Gospel changes hearts. Once someone’s heart has change then you will see their actions changed.

Romans 3:23 says we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God.

When we believe on Jesus Christ we get what He deserved we saved by Gods wonderful grace not by our works or effort.

The righteousness which comes from God is gift and people can be come frustrated trying to establish their own righteousness through good works

Romans 10:3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

God doesn’t not relate to you on the basis of your work and effort believers who do not under that their righteousness is of God, opens them to a feelings of being unworthy and guilt and condemnation.

Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Galatians 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

Galatians 3:25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

Galatians 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 4:22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

Ephesians 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

Ephesains 4:24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Your righteousness in Christ is your new indentify it what God has done for you when we grab a hold of our righteousness in Christ, we can see that everything we need in this life is meet as we seek him first and His righteousness.

2 Corinthians 5:14- 21 14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: 15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. 17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. 21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

We have been made the righteousness of God through what Jesus Christ done.

When our minds are being renewed as we are led by the spirit of God we begin to see clearly, we behold all things as new, we can see and think about ourselves as God see us, we have a new focus and new perspective in life as born again believers we see our self as Gods see us and we can then see other as the same way and not after the flesh.

We no longer see any man after the flesh we do not see ourselves after the flesh, but we now live and move and have our being in God, as He Jesus Christ is, so are we in this world.

When we walk with our carnal mind we will not see this new man or woman that we are, we become limited, and we live from the place of the old man nature which is earthly sensual and devilish. We see from a worldly perspective.

But when we are being led by the spirit of God with our minds being renewed to the truths of, who we are now, we rise up like the wings of eagles we soar to new heights. We see from our seated position in Christ so we can reign in this by one Jesus Christ.

Romans 5:17 For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

We think and speak from the new man, we know we are in right standing with our heavenly Father, we know everything that He promised to us is ours through Christ, Our focus will be to do those things that please God, self has not part in the mind of believer that has set His affections on things above and not on the things of this world.

Our righteousness is not based upon our own effort, knowledge, insight or understanding, or work but our righteousness is based on what Jesus Christ Accomplished at the Cross.

We have new life not because of anything we have done, but because of What Jesus Christ had done. In Your own efforts you cannot be righteous with God.

Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Romans 5:2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Because of what God has made available to mankind, as born again sons of God, we can stand in the presence of God without consciousness, off sin, guilt or shame, you have access to God you can come before Gods presence boldly and with great confidence knowing that you are right and just before Him because Jesus Christ paid that price for you.

Romans 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

Romans 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

Romans 8:8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Romans 8:10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

We decide every day what clothes we want to wear, Every day when you wake up put on your new garment the new creation, the mind of Christ which is life and peace. Or you can put on your old clothes the old man nature and walk by your senses which are death.

When we walk in our new man nature then we are blessing to all, we run to serve, we walk and manifest the love and the power of God bringing healing, light, deliverance and direction and our desire will be Gods desire we will want all men to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth, our focus will be on God.

Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance forever.

Romans 6:13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

Romans 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Romans 6:18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

Romans 6:19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.

Romans 8:4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Romans 8:10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

Romans 10:3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

Romans 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believeth.

Romans 10:5 For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.

Romans 10:6 But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise,

Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:)

Romans 10:7 Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)

Romans 10:8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Romans 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Romans 10:11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Galatains 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Galatians 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

John 16:8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

John 16:9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;

John 16:10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;

John 16:11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

John 16:12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

  3. It’s amazingly true how our lifestyle is separated out from the common man because of His work! We have what we have because of the completed work of Christ Jesus. All we are asked is to accept His work on our behalf and live like it; put off the old man which is dead in trespasses and sin, and PUT on the new man! Walk (live) in the newness of life – CHRIST! You are NOT like the common lot, so let your light shine towards the drawing of others to the sweetness of the life in Christ. You are so deeply loved Laurence, and Highly Favored!
