Why is it important to understand sowing and reaping?

Laurence Torr.

Why is it important to understand sowing and reaping?

I absolutely love and enjoy the subject of sowing and reaping, for it brings to life the truths of the word of God, and its application.

It high lights how God wants His people to understand how important it is what we are saying and how we are acting and living will produce results in ours live.

God wants His people to have the best in life, and everything for the best life for His people has already been provide for, by God, for us. God wants us to receive His word into our hearts, and keep it there so it goes to work in our lives, God wants us to have His wisdom so we can apply our hearts with understanding and reap the blessing and benefits of His wisdom.

The truths of God’s word  is not only pleasant to the soul but it preserves those who walk and lives in its truths through their application of it.

Proverbs 2:1  My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

Proverbs 2:2  So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;

Proverbs 2:3  Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

Proverbs 2:4  If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

Proverbs 2:5  Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

Proverbs 2:6  For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

Proverbs 2:7  He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.

Proverbs 2:8  He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.

Proverbs 2:9  Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.

Proverbs 2:10  When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;

Proverbs 2:11  Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

Notice in Proverbs 2:1 it says “if thou wilt receive my words and hide my commandments with thee.

The first thing we need to do is receive His word with a meek and humble heart, the second thing we need to do is hide or keep his commandments (word) within us.

Just like the  ground when it ploughed and ready will receive seed into it which will cause that seed to grow and produce its fruit.

God has through His word imparted to those with ears to hear, His wisdom, so we can apply our hearts unto His understanding. When we seek God wisdom and understanding above all things, God causes us to understand which preserves us and gives us direction so we can be fruitful.

.

All through the scriptures God uses examples of sowing and reaping.  Sowing and reaping works for believers & unbelievers whatever you sow by actions or words will always reap a harvest for you, either negative or positive. We sow according to our choices in life and we reap the results of what we have  decided to sow

Every day we are sowing something in our lives weather you recognise it or not or weather you choice to believe it or not, what you sow will always come back to you and in an abundance.

If you sow discord, violence, bad attitudes it will somewhere find its way back to you, If we sow goodness, love, good attitudes etc that will also find its way back to you. What you are harvesting in your life now, is a result of things you have sown in your life. If you have made good choices in life and lived and walked in them you can see why things are going well, it is from the choices you have made and the actions you have taken based upon what you believe is right and wrong.

It is impossible for a famer, to reap tomatoes if the seeds he has sown were for cucumbers. The principle of sowing and reaping works every time with no respects to persons it works for saint and sinner alike and the type of seed your sowing will produce more of the same. So if you are not happy with what you are receiving right now, the good news is we can start to change what we are sowing and in time begin to receive the right type of harvest in our lives.

When we understand this wonderful wisdom on the spiritual side of our lives then we can begin to change the things in our lives by applying these great truths.

If you decide to look this up in the scriptures you will see sowing and reaping is everywhere in the scriptures, lots of people do not realise their words are seeds, you may know it and  be aware of it, but still speak the negatives of this world.

but when we apply our hearts to understand this principle that God has highlighted all throughout  His word, then you will see how important it is to your life and your family’s life and all those you share Gods word with. It is the simple and most important things that can be and is so easily missed. This wonderful truth and principle, God again is bringing to yours and mine attention. Just like the faith and confession, these truths sowing and reaping and faith and confession go hand in hand and work with scientific precision.

Here are a few things to remember about sowing and reaping

  1. sowing always come before reaping.
  2. sowing requires patience James 5:7-8
  3. The type of seed sown determines the type of harvest you reap
  4. you will always reap more than you sow
  5. Sow with an expectation and faith

When we say what God is saying We are sowing the seed of God word.

we can see from the following scriptures Gods word is alive and it is active

Hebrews 4:12 New Living Translation (NLT)

12 For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

God’s word is incorruptible seed and there is life in the word of God.

It is quick and powerful and sharper than any two edge sword it cut right through between the soul and spirit, between the joints and marrow it exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

John 6:63  It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

The words that Jesus spoke were spirit and life, He always spoke what the Father wanted him to speak.

Psalms 147:15   He sendeth forth his commandment upon earth: his word runneth very swiftly.

God sends forth His commandments upon the earth His word runs very swiftly God’s word goes to work and fast, how does God send forth His word, He speaks it, He declares it, He also declares His word through His believing people.

This is how we also put Gods word to work in our lives by saying it out of mouth. rather than saying what the world says.

The word of  God is seed and there is life in the word and once spoken it will produce a great harvest in our lives when we sow it, we sow the seed of the word by releasing it through mouths. and God’s word once spoken with faith and no doubt will go to work swiftly.

Words of fear and failure sickness and lack are also a seed that when spoken will go to work against you and produce a harvest when it spoken.

As sons of the most high God, born again of the spirit of God, we need to put Gods word to work in our lives by saying it, by declaring it from our mouths and applying it through our actions, we need to act and say in accordance to what God is saying, written or by what God is speaking to ours heart.

Knowledge without is application will not produce fruit for anyone, but once that knowledge is applied with understanding it will produce great results every time its applied. A famer has knowledge about growing crops, but if he does not plough his field and sows and waters and fertilise the grounds he will have no crops.

A farmer performs the following steps from crop selection to harvesting:

  1. Crop Selection
  2. Land Preparation
  3. Seed Selection
  4. Seed Sowing time
  5. Irrigation – watering
  6. Crop Growth
  7. Fertilizing
  8. Harvesting

There is a lot of effort by the farmer to grow a good crop

  1. The ground has to be prepared and good fertiliser used to put into the soil,

there is organic fertiliser and in-organic fertilisers

2 then good quality seed is sown for a good quality harvest. so the right type of seed is sown (what you sow so shall you reap)

  1. the field needs to be watered at the right time with the right amount for seeds to grow properly this is called irrigation. different plants also need different types of soils

then protecting the crops like scare crows, pesticides fencing etc,

Matthew 13:18  Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.

Matthew 13:19  When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.

Matthew 13:20  But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;

Matthew 13:21  Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

Matthew 13:22  He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

Matthew 13:23  But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

The Soil will determine the health and strength of a plant. The better the soil, the healthier and stronger the plant. The soil should not be too sandy or too hard, and it must supply the right nutrients for the plant to grow strong.

when our hearts are humble and meek and desiring to learn so we can do, then the word of God sown in our heart will produce a great harvest in our minds and impact our world when we release it out of our mouths.

Genesis 8:22 While the earth remaineth seedtime and harvest and cold and heat and summer and winter and day and night shall not cease.

God refers to seed as Human seed, animal seed, Plant and herbs as seeds our words as seeds, His spirit as seed, and all these types of seed work on the simple principal, and produce after its own kind. To produce more of the same type of seed you want to harvest you have to sow seed and water the seed to receive its increase.

Genesis 1:11  And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.

Genesis 1:12  And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

This phrase After it kind shows that like produces like.

If you want to change what you are reaping, you need to change what you sowing. for example

If you are overweight like I was, I realised I was sowing to my body the wrong kind of food, junk food that  made me fat, and made me feel tired. I did not like how I was looking or how I was feeling.

I had to make some changes. I done my homework and research and then got myself on a program that helped me understand the types of food I need to eat and to lose the weight I needed to, along with walking and exercising  more than did.  for those of you that know me, you know I am telling you the truth, why is that?  because You can see the results. When we eat right we get the right results in our bodies as we find out what is good and get rid of the bad.

What are You sowing in your lives? how are you living? and what are reaping? as yourselves these question and think it through.

If we want to manifest the fruits of the spirit in our lives we need to walk and live and be led by the spirit of God.

Let us take a look at some more scriptures, we are not looking at every single scripture on this subject so if you have read this far, then I encourage to study this subject yourself ask God to open it up for you as you go to Him and the Scriptures. Let take a look at a few more example from the Scriptures to see what God want to impart to us.

Galatians 6:8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

Galatians 5:16  This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Galatians 5:17  For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

Galatians 5:18  But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

Galatians 5:19  Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

Galatians 5:20  Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

Galatians 5:21  Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Galatians 5:22  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Galatians 5:23  Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Galatians 5:24  And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

Galatians 5:25  If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Galatians 5:26  Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

when we are spiritually minded and being led by the spirit of God we will 1000 per cent reap and manifest God’s blessing in our life.

Romans 8:5  For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

Romans 8:6  For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Romans 8:7  Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

Romans 8:8  So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

So there are some example about applying the word and sowing the word through our actions and walking by the spirit. We can either walk with the carnal mind, or the spiritual mind. which one do you walk by?

If we are walking by the spirit of God, then we will certainly be speaking what God says, we will be walking and talking the walk, we won’t be upset at everyone, and everything, we will not be offended, we will certainly be looking to help those around us, by giving God encouragement, speaking words of life to believers and unbelievers alike, we will see people as God sees them, we will certainly have love and respect for each other and those that minister Gods word, doing what God is working in their hearts to feed His people. We will be walking in our ministry of reconciliation to the world and the body of Christ. We will be walking in the love of God manifesting the fruits of the spirit in our walk.

Leaders and believers our ministry is unto edification not destruction. Our ministry is to build up and not tear down.

See we won’t be with drawing ourselves from others  we will not be talking negatively about a sister or brother, we will not be arguing over who is right or who is important and who is not important, these attributes are the works or the carnal mind, which produce the works of flesh.

Psalms 119:89 thy word is settled (Established) in heaven.

Psalms 89:34 My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.

God is not schizophrenic He means what He has said and will do what He said He is going to do. God’s word is reliable and more sure than the ground we walk on and will produce a great harvest as we apply it and are led by the spirit of  living God.

Isaiah 55:10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:

Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

God has put His word to work and it works and it will work for you and me when we put His word to work in our lives. God has provided everything in this world so man can live and animals, and plants and herbs and many other things but we have to do the work, we have to use what God has made available in this natural world. and it is the same spiritually.

Someone has to ready the ground for sowing and reaping, someone has to cook the food someone has to harness the resources of this world like gas and electric and water, we put to work the things God has made available and it is the same when it comes to putting Gods word to work for our lives. God has given us authority we are the ones to use what God has given to us.

So if we lack health in our bodies we claim what is rightfully ours, that healing which has already be accomplished by Christ for us.  then we can do our part by  eating healthily and drinking healthily, we take the right exercise for our bodies.

God has already provided, Health, Wealth, abundance, joy, peace, wholeness, protection, His wisdom, all of this has been provided for in Christ we have received it spiritually and now we need to manifest it, by applying Gods word and His principles. God gave us holy spirit, but God is not speaking in tongues for us, is He? we have to use what God has supplied and when we do we reap its benefits.

So God has supplied the seed, so whatever type of seed you need to sow has been supplied but you need to sow it. This is very easy to understand just like one plus one equals 2, every time you put one and one together you always get two.

God supplies the seed but we need to sow

For prosperity we need to operate in Gods principals, not only do we give but  like everything else we have been given we are to be good stewards. The Farmer does not just sow the seed, he first has to plough the ground get read of the weeds and stones and anything that would hinder the seed from growing. Then he sows the seed he wants then waters and fertilises it, he takes care of his field  until harvest time.

God wants us to use His wisdom so Let us look at the area of giving in the Scriptures.

If you want to prosper in your finances then you need to understand and use God wisdom. The farmer who wants a harvest, He know he cannot hold on to his seed, he needs to sow the seeds for the harvest.

Proverbs 3:9-10 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase: 10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

We know the old testament is for our learning but the same principle still applies Solomon was the wisest and richest man of  his day, God gave him great wisdom and riches and Solomon is writing God wisdom here in this record so we can learn from it.

We can see right away when we give to God we are Honouring HIM. and with the first fruits, the very best of harvest are we to give to God, before we do anything we should give to God, this is Gods wisdom and understanding.

God wants to be first  in You finance so He can continue to bless you

and He wants our hearts in the right place in our giving

Let’s continue to look at God wisdom, in Proverbs, we will also see the terminology of sowing and watering.

Proverbs 11:24  There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.

Proverbs 11:25  The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.

Proverbs 11:26  He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.

Proverbs 11:27  He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.

Proverbs 11:28  He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.

Proverbs 11:29  He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.

Proverbs 11:30  The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

Proverbs 11:31  Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.

Our heavenly Father really wants to be first seeking Him first, Honouring Him first, and when we begin to do this we receive His great blessings in our lives.

In this next record we can see Gods great heart towards His people even when they got it wrong, He shows them their error and ask them to think about what they were doing and where are their priorities.

Let us have a look at part of this wonderful record.

Haggai 1:2  Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the LORD’S house should be built.

Haggai 1:3  Then came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying,

Haggai 1:4  Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste?

Haggai 1:5  Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.

Haggai 1:6  Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.

Haggai 1:7  Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.

Haggai 1:8  Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD.

Haggai 1:9  Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.

Haggai 1:10  Therefore the heaven over you is stayed from dew, and the earth is stayed from her fruit.

Haggai  1:11  And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of the hands.

So here we see Gods people taking care of themselves building there nice houses and leaving Gods work undone, God rose up Haggai his prophets to address the people, to steer them back in the right direction, God wanted His people to consider what they were doing and why they were not prospering. He lovingly corrects them through Haggai and gets their attention back to putting God first. You can read the rest of the record yourself.

Now we will look at God correcting His people again see it is the heart of our heavenly Father for all His kids to prosper and be health to have a good Journey through life and we all can if we put God first, and apply His principles when we begin to understand what we need to do, then we can either ignore it and do it our way or we can be humble and meek and do it Gods way, and receive all what God has made available to us in Christ today.

Let’s continue to look at more examples that is written for our learning to day, that we through patient and comfort of the scripture might have hope, and man, understanding these records and principles and what our part is sure gives us hope and an excitement to get practising these things.

Malachi 3:6  For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

Malachi 3:7  Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?

Malachi 3:8  Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

Malachi 3:9  Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.

Malachi 3:10  Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Malachi 3:11  And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.

Malachi 3:12  And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts.

Malachi 3:13  Your words have been stout against me, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, What have we spoken so much against thee?

Malachi 3:14  Ye have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts?

Malachi 3:15  And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea, they that tempt God are even delivered.

God by way of His prophet addresses His people again because the people were with holding their giving, and God wanted meat in His house so the needs of those that served God and the needs of His people were meet. He told his people you have robbed me even this whole nation it was a big deal to God and still is today in the area of giving and receiving, after pointing out their error God loving instruction them back to the right way so He could bless them abundantly and the needs of all His people were met, these people even complained saying it empty to serve God and that there was no benefit in serving God, they were basically calling God a liar and that He does not provide, If they had followed what God wanted them to do, then they would not have said those things they would have been receiving His benefits and blessing.

What is address to the believers today in this area of giving and receiving?

2 Corinthians 9:6  But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully (blessings) shall reap also bountifully with (blessing).

2Corinthians 9:7  Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly (with sorrow), or of necessity (out of need): for God loveth a cheerful (willing) giver.

2Corinthians 9:8  And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency(contentment) in all things, may abound to every good work:

2Corinthians 9:9  (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.

2Corinthians 9:10  Now he that ministereth (supplies) seed to the sower both minister (to supply abundantly) bread for your food, and multiply (increase) your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)

2Corinthians 9:11  Being enriched in everything to all bountifulness (simplicity), which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.

2Corinthians 9:12  For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God;

2Corinthians 9:13  Whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men;

2Corinthians 9:14  And by their prayer for you, which long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you.

2Corinthians 9:15  Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

God by way of Paul uses the example of sowing and reaping he shows if we giving sparingly then we reap sparingly, it is very simple, If we sow bountifully we shall reap bountifully  this word bountifully means blessing God wants us to give with understanding and happy heart, He does not want us to give out of a need that is for sure, we need to remember God has supplied seed for us to sow and has met our basic need abundantly to live. So our basic needs are met by God and then He has given us seed that we need to sow, which will be multiplied back to us, the word multiply means increase our seed we have sown, again very plain for us to see Gods, wisdom and when we are trusting God, it is very easy to apply. Our giving causes much thanking giving to God. It supplies the needs of those that minister the word of God and to the needs with in the body of Christ.

The Word Bountifulness in verse 11 is the Greek word haplotes which means simplicity and free from pretence and openness of heart manifesting itself by generosity ( Thayers) and  Strong’s says

singleness, that is, (subjectively) sincerity (without dissimulation or self seeking), or (objectively) generosity (copious bestowal): – bountifulness, liberal (-ity), simplicity, singleness.

We are shown it is right to give and also the giving and the heart we give it with, We give with understanding then you can have an expectation.

Philippians 4:15  Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.

Philippians 4:16  For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity.

Philippians 4:17  Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.

Philippians 4:18  But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, well pleasing to God.

Philippians 4:19  But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:20  Now unto God and our Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Paul was explaining here that when he left Macedonia no one communicated with him, the word communicated mean (to share with) no one share with Paul in the area of giving and receiving, the things that Paul needed to live Paul goes on to say, not because I desire a gift, But I desire fruit that may abound to your account, Paul understood that when the people give that would receive fruit from there giving, they was not going to be worse off through there giving and Paul did not want those who should give miss out on the blessing of God. He was not looking at it from a five sense point of view, He understood that when people give it was on odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, well pleasing to God, and that God would supply all there need to according to his riches and glory by Christ Jesus.

Galatians 6:6 -7 – 6 Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. 7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap

Again Paul is teaching these believers that they should communicate (share with)  from their resources unto Him that teaches in all good things.

Paul knew the principle of giving and receiving and so does God, because God set that up for our blessing and abundance.

God cannot be mocked for whatever we sow that shall we reap again, why? because sowing and reaping it is  law set up by God.

1Corinthians 9:9  For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen?

1Corinthains 9:10  Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.

1Corinthians 9:11  If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?

1Corinthians 9:12  If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.

1Corinthians 9:13  Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar?

1Corinthians 9:14  Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.

A great example here is used by Paul the ox that treads out the corn receives food so it sustain and able to carry out it works, the reward of  its labour is food to live  then Paul goes on to say if we have sown to you spiritual things is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things? The answer no. Paul then says we do not use our authority we have over you, so that you give and Paul then uses examples of those that minister about holy things live of the things of temple, why so they can keep ministering, and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the alter, Then Paul explains that the Lord ordain that they which preach the gospel should of the gospel live.

1Timothy 5:17  Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.

1Timothy 5:18  For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.

Again Paul is reminding Timothy that the labourer is worthy of His reward. especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.

so we see the importance of sowing and reaping and that it is God heart for us to understand it and operate in its principles, this is God wisdom for His people that want to know and grow and practise the things of God, when we begin to do this we will see great blessings in our lives and the body of Christ, we will see many leaders rise up and become free to preach the gospel of Christ. we will see the needs in the body of Christ abundantly met as well as our personal lives enriched with understanding and walking and being led by the spirit of God, understanding what God has already provided so we can put His truths and principles of the truths to work.

God bless you abundantly
