What I learnt Today – By Laurence Torr

The day being Wednesday 18th April 2018

Our Example and what we show to others has an effect.

Today, was a great learning day for me. God is always teachings us something new, I realised just how our life and what we do and say has such an impact on the hearts of the people around us specially our family who are the closes to us. What we do and say will have an influence on them for good or bad.

I was out today with my Wife and Daughter Leanne and Granddaughter Maya who is two and half, I have encouraged my kids to pray and look to God as much as I can, I look to encourage them to pray to God for their needs and to be a blessing to others, and to trust God in their life and living, that whatever need they have, they can go to God, and if they see anyone else in need if it is in their ability to help people then they really should help, as this is right before God and pleases the heart of God, and in turn will be a blessing to them as well as the person  they reach out to, This in turn can also turn that person who is in need to go to God.  I have taught my kids they can minister healing to others and themselves and look to encourage other people where they can.

So on the side of healing I reminded Leanne she can minister healing to Maya, for anything that Maya has need of ministering to, that she can do this by the power of God in the name of Jesus Christ, So my daughter Leanne has prayed and ministered healing to Maya, and the other day Leanne hurt her leg and Maya came right over to Leanne put her hand on Leanne leg and said be healed in the name of Jesus. This is a wonderful influence and example Leanne is sharing with Maya.

Now if Maya hurts herself Maya now will minister to herself as well so this is one little sharing I wanted to share with you.

The other thing  was today when we were out and about my daughter Leanne spotted a young homeless man sat in a shop door way with his dog, the young man had nothing and the dog needed water.

Leanne came right way to me and said Dad we just have to help this man and his dog you could see by the look in her eyes and tone of voice she had great compassion for this person and there were many more like this young man sat in shop doors  or at the end of buildings, but this one person stood out to her.

So I was so touched with the love and concern in her heart and compassion, I was now inspired to help too, so we went to the shop brought bottles of water  and food for the man and the dog as well and some food for another guys sitting outside another shop.

This young man was so very, very thankful  that we helped him and he was concerned about his dog, and we were very blessed and honoured to help them out.

There are so many people in this world that need help, not all of them sit in doorways they can be people with a good back ground, or have a nice family unit, but still have many needs in many areas of their life. There are many people from all walks of life needing help and love and healing in their lives.

It was so wonderful to see that my daughter really had a heart and compassion for others, this was not the only time I have seen this in her But God reminded me, it is the example of my wife and I the things Leanne has see us do in helping others and also my mother had a great influence in her life, since Leanne was little which has helped and shaped her to the caring person she is today and God works in her greatly.  I can say the same for Danny my son, He will be driving along in His car and God will show Him to stop and pray for people and many people have received healing by this. He will also be inspired to go up to people with needs and ministering healing to them.

As believers what example are we setting within our families and those around. What we do and say will have an impact negative of positive.

One of the biggest thing that came to my mind is that if I am so happy and blessed my children show love and compassion  for others, How much more is God happy and blessed when we do the same.

God is Love. He is the God of all compassion. God seen the need of mankind when we were all truly lost and without hope. God did not just pass us by, But He sent His son Jesus Christ, to reconcile those that would believe on Jesus Christ, back to God. See God  sent Jesus Christ not to condemn the world but that the world though Jesus Christ might be saved it is the heart and will of God for all men to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth.

God does not want anyone to perish, Now as believers we are born again of the spirit of God we have been clothed with power from on high, we have Gods ability, His power in us which is Christ in Us the hope of Glory, we have the blessing of reaching out to those that sit in darkness, in shop doors, or behind bars of steel or mental prisons, we have the authority from God which is with in you to reach out, by preaching out, the good news concerning  what God has made available by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ, by confessing Jesus as Lord and believing in your heart God raised Him for the dead, that the lost can be reconciled to God.

We need to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. and show people that their is a loving God, a compassionate God, a Caring God, a powerful God, who cares for them and loves them and they can receive eternal life and the gift of righteousness by Jesus Christ, we need to preach the gospel of Christ which is the power of God unto salvation. Are you using your talent? or have you buried your talent?  are you preaching to those that are lost, are you showing the love and compassion of God to others not just those that are lost but also those in your family and the body of Christ?

Here is what the Scriptures say

Romans 10:8-15

But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

2 Corinthians 5:18 -20

18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

1 Timothy 2:4 Who (God) will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

2 Peter 3:9 he Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.(Change of Mind)

It was not many days After the conversation of the Apostle Paul, that Paul was out there preaching Christ whom he once persecuted. This also validated to the other Apostles at Jerusalem that the Apostle Paul was Genuine not just because of the testimony of Barnabas about the vision and conversion of Paul but also  because Paul preached the word boldly.

Acts 9:19-22 And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus.  20 And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God. 21 But all that heard him were amazed, and said; Is not this he that destroyed them which called on this name in Jerusalem, and came hither for that intent, that he might bring them bound unto the chief priests?  22 But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ.

Acts 9:26-31,  26  And when Saul was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to join himself to the disciples: but they were all afraid of him, and believed not that he was a disciple. 27  But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus. 28  And he was with them coming in and going out at Jerusalem.
29  And he spake boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus, and disputed against the Grecians: but they went about to slay him. 30  Which when the brethren knew, they brought him down to Caesarea, and sent him forth to Tarsus. 31  Then had the churches rest throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied.

Pauls influence and example before he came born again had the wrong kind of example and impact on many of the believers around as he was throwing them in to prison he built fear in the lives of people, but the great change came after He was born again of the spirit of God, His life became an example and blessing to all those that heard and received his message, many people healed and set free, and God gave Paul the revelation of the mystery, Paul latter life impacted the lives of others for good, setting the example and leading way, by showing and telling. living the word and preaching the word it goes hand in hand.

So let us preached the word of God boldly, Let us preach the gospel of Christ, Let us walk in and use our ministry of reconciliation, let us reach out and love and show the compassion of God in Christ in Us to the world.

  1. Always a good teaching from you and Kim, this blessed me that Leanne was bold enough in her faith to step out and help. A great teaching, as some of us hold back because we are afraid of being snubbed, thinking of ourselves and not of the needy ones feelings. thank you. xxxx
