Confession
What we confess – each and everything we say, is very important.
What you say about yourself, what you say about others, what you say
about your future and what you say about your circumstances all
produce a positive or negative result which plays out into your life.
Are you blessing your future or cursing your future? Are you blessing
others or cursing others? Are you blessing your circumstances or
cursing your circumstances? Are you blessing your health or cursing
your health? Are you blessing your finances or cursing your finances?
Are you blessing your relationships or cursing your relationships? Is the
old man nature at work in you? Or is the new man (Christ in you)
nature at work in you?
How can you know if you’re blessing your life or cursing your life?

because it will show you what God says in
His Word – The Bible – about our words. The remarkable truth is that
you must watch what is coming out of your mouth.
That is right; the words you are speaking out are either words of death
or words of life.
Proverbs 18:20 & 21:
20. A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with
the increase of his lips shall he be filled.
21. Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it
shall eat the fruit thereof.
By our words we can tell if we – or others – have a carnal mind or a
spiritual mind. Our Words give us away. They show where we coming
from.
Kim and I have begun to practise this area in our walk with God and
we are seeing tremendous results in our lives. The first thing we both
noticed, when we began saying what God says, just after a couple of
days we felt good and strong inside, and when someone else came with
their negatives we were flowing with great encouragement to build that
person up.
It is so easy to run off at the mouth, and not really think about what we
are saying and how our words affect us and those around us. I have
been around some believers in the church, and heard them talk
negatively about others and themselves. I also did the same in the past,
but thanks to God He really opened my eyes to see that what I was
saying and also listening to was not only working against me, but also
against those spoken about.
When we speak about others in a negative way or point out their faults
we are actually cursing when we should be blessing. I have learnt and I
am learning to speak good things about others. I am calling those
things not as though they were, and I am speaking blessings into that
person’s life. Ask yourself honestly, how have you been speaking about
yourself, your partner, your fellow brother or sister in Christ, or anyone
else? What do you confess about your ministry or relationships, your
bank balance? Are you saying what the news reports say or are you
calling things which are not as though they were? Are you in agreement
with what God says you are, what you have and what you’re going to
be?
Confession in God’s Word
What does God have to say about our Words and how does God use
His Words? God says, “Let the weak say I am strong and the poor say
I am rich”. But the poor say, “I am poor” and the weak say, “I am
weak”. We need to change what we have been saying about ourselves
and our circumstances. Why? Because everything God says we are is in
complete opposition to what Satan and the world says we are. Ask
yourself the same question I asked myself, “Who are you in agreement
with? God and his Word, or Satan and the world?” You will know it by
the words you speak. It all starts by what you hear, and have let sink
into your heart, then you release those thoughts by the words you
speak.
You speak what is in your heart and what you think.
Luke 6:43-45:
43. For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a
corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Pardon? What did you say?

44. For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not
gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.
45. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth
that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart
bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his
mouth speaketh.
What we feed our minds on is very important. I am not just writing
about saying nice things. The unbeliever can say nice things and
positive things. As born again children of God we have the spirit of the
living God dwelling in us. Now because of this, we can come into
agreement with what God says from His Word and the words he gives
to us by His spirit. There is a wonderful record in the gospel of
Matthew that highlights both of these points. There needs to be a
balance of the Word of God and the spirit of God. When we see that
balance, we see power, and direction in and for our lives.
Matthew 4:1-11:
1. Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be
tempted of the devil.
2. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was
afterward an hungered.
3. And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of
God, command that these stones be made bread.
4. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread
alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
5. Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a
pinnacle of the temple,
6. And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down:
for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in
their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot
against a stone.
7. Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the
Lord thy God.
8. Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and
showeth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
9. And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall
down and worship me.

10. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written,
Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
11. Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and
ministered unto him.
Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted
of the devil.
In verse 3, we see that the devil was trying to get Jesus to doubt who
he really was by saying “If thou be the son of God”. The word “if”
implies a doubt and the first thing the devil will try on you, is to try and
get you to doubt that you really are a child of God, born again of
God’s spirit with Christ in you.
Secondly, he tempted Jesus to turn the stones into bread. But look at
the response of our wonderful Lord and saviour Jesus Christ in verse 4:
Jesus answered IT IS WRITTEN, (past tense). Then he quoted from
the Old Testament scripture record in Deuteronomy 8:3 “Man doth
not live by bread only,” So Jesus knew the Old Testament records and
they were living in his heart. So we see it is important to have
knowledge of God’s Word.
Then Jesus said “But by every word that proceedeth (present tense) out
of the mouth of God”. So it is not just the written word but also the
words that proceed out from God to our spirit, and they are declared
when we speak them.
In verse 6 the devil continues with “if”. Interestingly the devil also
quotes scripture but we can see that the truth the devil was quoting was
not with the right heart or intent. The devil was using God’s word
deceitfully. He was using God’s Word to try and get Jesus to fall and
fail.
In verse 7 Jesus said IT IS WRITTEN and again in verse 10 Jesus
backs the devil down with IT IS WRITTEN. Jesus resisted the devil
with the Word of God and it backed the devil off. It is not enough just
to know loads of scripture and be full of head knowledge.
God’s Word needs to be applied in our everyday living and one of
those ways is our confession, what we say. We also need to use the
spirit of God that He gave to us when we said Jesus is our Lord and we
believed that God raised him from the dead.
Romans 10:9 & 10:
9. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt
believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou
shalt be saved.
10. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the
mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Here we see the wonderful principle of confessing or saying with our
mouths in order to become born again of the spirit of God. According
to the written Word of God, number one, we first have to say or
confess with our mouths. That means we declare out loud the Lord
Jesus. Number two, we have to believe in our hearts that God raised
him from the dead. Then “thou shalt be saved”.
What we believe in our hearts and say with our mouths will produce
results. Now what you are believing in your heart and saying with your
mouth will decide if the results are negative or positive for you. If you
are continually saying negatives and confessing worry and fears and
doubts and lack and bad health or lack of money, your situation will
not change.
If you say things like, “This always happens to me. Things never go
right for me. I always have lack. There is just never enough. Bad things
always come my way. I will never get out of this debt”… you will
continue to see the same old negative results. Other things people say
are, “Everyone else has lucky breaks. I never get them. I am so
overweight this fat just won’t go”. Well guess what, you are right.
You believed and said it; therefore you have what you have. There
needs to be a change in our attitudes, how we see things and how we
do things and how we say things

Wonderful brother! As believer we should confess the Word of God and see the results. God is great!Thank you Laur!
Great encouragement. This also has been in my mind. Specifically what has been on my mind is how we can confess great truths about each other as believers.
The other day I was praying with a friend and when I was done praying, I realized I forgot to pray for continued stable finances. Then when it was her turn, she covered it for me and made this declaration: that I would be so abundantly financially well that I could be generous and give to other believers in need. The incredible thing is that I had always been playfully labeled as a “penny-pincher,” and a cheapskate. And I always secretly worried that if I was blessed with lots of money that I would be the one who held back. And the Christ in me simply does not agree with those worldly statements that were in me. It was a great lesson for someone else to confess those things about me instead of thinking, “Oh yea–I did notice her at the clearance rack the other day!” LOL
